President Eisenhower delivered his Christmas Eve message, on December 24, 1954 with a feeling of gratitude. Gratitude that the War in Korea had finally come to an end, and that the word was at peace for the first time since Christmas 1949.
But still, hot in the midst of the Cold War and the Red Scare, the world was hardly breaking out in peace everywhere. There were going to be a lot of dark days ahead. But for this Christmas Eve, all was quiet.
And that was something to be grateful for on this Christmas Eve in 1954
